EYFS Experiences

In the EYFS we work hard to ensure that the children's interests are met whilst striving to embed key skills and knowledge in the children's long term memory. We firmly believe that this makes the children's learning meaningful as they are learning through play, through being active and enjoyment. These opportunities are often planned (either in advance or in response to a child's expressed interest or request) but can equally be spontaneous!
Here are some of the ways in which we support a lifelong love of learning through purposeful experiences.
As part of our fairy tale topic we went into the woods and made fairy wands. We chose our own sticks to transform into our magical wands using both natural and other materials. Once we had all made our wands we chanted our fairy spell...

Here we wave the fairy wand,

fairy wand, fairy wand,

here we wave the fairy’s wand,

all through the woods.

This is the way we make our dust,

make our dust, make our dust,

this is the way we make our dust,

all through the woods.

This is the way we shimmer and shine,

shimmer and shine, shimmer and shine,

this is the way we shimmer and shine,

all through the woods.

Here we are making some bird feeders for the birds in our Outdoor Area! We used lard, bird seeds and raisins. It was messy but fun and we are enjoying watching the little birds feast, especially because it is so cold and frosty!
